Improv makes an impact at the National Arts Centre

On October 15th, 2025, all of our CIG Ontario regions are banding together to host a joint info session for anyone interested in the tournament! Expect to learn more about CIG events, the rulebook, your work as a coach, and meet your local Regional Producer! 

This event will be hosted by Clare Reid, our TriCity Regional Producer. 

CIG Ontario consists of the following regions:

  • Ottawa (including the Ottawa Valley)
  • Kingston (including areas of Belleville, Prince Edward County, North Hastings and more)
  • Toronto (including the GTA)
  • Northern ON (including Sudbury, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, and more)
  • TriCity (including Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Chatham-Kent, and more)

‘Slimy’ students win Canadian Improv Games trophy

They had to be silly, serious — even slimy — and in the end, their creativity paid off.

A team of six teenagers — including four actors and two musicians — from Gulf Islands Secondary School (GISS) on Salt Spring Island, B.C., were crowned the big winners at the Canadian Improv Games in Ottawa on April 4.

Hello City

Hello City’s powerful play

The improvisational troupe Hello City is named after a song about how Halifax sucks. “The same people, the same drinks and the same music, the same quicksand / I think this harbour town is waist-deep and sinkin’ fast,” goes the first verse, taking a pause before rolling into the first line of the chorus: “Hello city, you’ve found an enemy in me.”
