It’s Giving Tuesday: why not knock out your holiday shopping and support youth improv at the same time? The CIG Charitable Gift Guide is packed with meaningful and high impact gifts for the improvisers, alumni, teachers, and arts lovers in your life.
Whether you cheer on a regional tournament, adore the National Festival, or have Improv Camp memories that still make you laugh, there’s a gift in this guide that lets you give back to the programs you love. And since the Canadian Improv Games is a registered charity, every gift comes with a handy dandy tax receipt.
Give a gift in the spirit of improvisation, cooperation, and learning—this Giving Tuesday and all season long.
Help cover the cost for an unregistered school in your area to attend a regional tournament as audience members. This gift gives students and teachers a firsthand experience of the magic of the Canadian Improv Games, helping them discover what it looks and feels like to be part of the community and inspiring new programs to join in the future.
Hundreds of students attend Nationals each year, and your gift helps make their learning possible. Sponsor a workshop block and help cover the cost of space rentals, materials, and instruction that give young performers the chance to grow, connect, and refine their craft. Donors will be informed of the workshop options their gift supports and updated on the real impact their sponsored session makes.
Make sure your region’s achievements are honoured with real awards — banners, medals, or plaques that students can take home proudly. Donors will be updated on your regional results and the awards they sponsored!
Help cover the cost of bringing a professional artist or CIG alum into Improv U to teach students new skills and inspire the next generation of Canadian improvisers! Donors will be informed of the workshop their gift supports and updated on the real impact their sponsored session makes.
Cover the cost of registering a student for the National Festival, where they can take workshops, perform on stage, and watch each night of the National Tournament! Your sponsorship will be donated through the National Office and the recipient will be notified of your support. The donor also has the option to name, present, and create criteria for the award.
Cover the cost of registering a teacher for the National Teachers’ Conference, where they can learn from the best CIG trainers and improv coaches in Canada. Your sponsorship will be donated through the National Office and the recipient will be notified of your support. The donor also has the option to name, present, and create criteria for the award.
CIG training videos are used by teachers, coaches, and students across the country, as well as AROUND THE WORLD! Our most recent collection of training videos are from 11 years ago, and before CIG 50, we want to create new resources for our community. Donors to this fund can write a personalized message or dedication for the video description.
The CIG runs two summer programs – Improv Camp in BC and Improv U in Quebec. Both are truly memorable and exciting experiences for high school students who love the art of improvisational theatre. Thanks to our Leadership Program, it’s also a place for recent grads to expand their skills.
